Hi! I’m Katie Cunningham and I’m running for Cibolo City Council District 4. This district encompasses Saddle Creek Ranch, Heights of Cibolo, Gatewood, Stonebrook, Buffalo Crossing, and part of Cibolo Valley Ranch.
I’m so excited to be running for City Council. I grew up in the area and am a 2004 Clemens graduate. I moved to Waco after high school and graduated from Baylor University with degrees in Public Relations and Speech Communication (Corporate Communication emphasis). After graduation I met my husband and then spent 3 years in Paris, TX before returning to Cibolo. We have 4 kids (17, 10, 6 and 5) and I’m grateful to be able to raise them where I grew up.
I’ve been active in the city for many years. I’ve served on several city boards and committees including CIP, Board of Adjustments, Master Plan Committee, Communication and Technology Advisory Committee, and Charter Review Commission.
I also serve on committees for charity organizations and events, such as the Sweetheart Soirée Senior Citizen Prom, Cibolo BBQ Cookoff, Giving Thanks Thanksgiving Dinner for Veterans, Cibolo Valley Elementary PTA, Stonebrook HOA, and more. My kids love to come and help, so we stay busy! I also run a local Facebook page that posts volunteer opportunities in our area (Active in Cibolo/Schertz), provide car seat safety checks in the community, and am a member of the Lions Club.
Cibolo is a great city and has the potential to be even better. We need to focus on improving infrastructure such as roads, water, sewer, drainage, and emergency services and slow the development down until we can get the infrastructure ready for it. I believe every tax dollar matters, and as a council member will work to ensure that the city is fiscally responsible and that bonds don’t sit for years before being utilized.
Please reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or feedback and I’ll do my best to respond. I look forward to meeting you all!
